‘As one of the ancient world’s grandest and most intriguing cultures, the Romans have left behind many traces of their existence. Among their many great achievements, their coinage stands as a testament to their organisation, efficiency and artistic creativity. This illustrated talk will discuss the broad developments of Roman coinage from the earliest days to the fall of the western Empire, with a specific focus on the coinage found in Lincolnshire and in the collections of The Collection: Art and Archaeology in Lincolnshire, and on the imagery to be found on the coinage.’
